Effects of natural and anthropogenic stressors on wild organisms

Timeline:

September 2015 - ongoing

Objectives:

To understand the impacts of both natural and human-induced stressors in wild animals by performing both literature reviews as well as experimental work on wild fish.

Funding:

Carleton University, Technical University of Denmark, Smoltrack projects I, II & III

Results:

We find that animals can be impacted by stressors in different ways and to various degrees, with some species more affected than others. We also find that certain stressors may impact fish and carryover across seasons and lifestages.

Outputs:

Three peer-reviewed publications (here, here & here).

Future steps:

Continue to investigate the extent to which natural and anthropogenic stressors affect wild organisms, both through laboratory and field experiments.
